This week’s iZombie offered up a fairly humorous episode that moves the several plot threads forward in unexpected ways.

I must say iZombie is a great show, and while I was somewhat critical of the dominatrix case story, it turns out there was more to it than previously thought (at least by me).  This was the Payten centric plot thread I’d been waiting for and so far, it seems interesting. In especially liked how it was built up in previous episodes through one or two comments on Payten’s part.  It seems like some higher power wants the contents of that video kept out of prying eyes, though hit remains to be seen who this higher power may be.  Ideally whomever they may be are connected to the larger zombie verses human conflict this season.  Some of the best weekly cases tend to be the ones that factor into larger storylines, and the idea of seeing them play out over a few episodes is an intriguing prospect that I hope is used more next season.

Several long-running plot threads were developed, and pushed to exciting new places.  Blaine’s storyline was taken to an interesting place this week.  While there has been some worry that Blaine has been taken to far down redemption road, his past has come back to well…gut shot him.  Blaine truly cared for Payten, but the series never forgets his past, which caught up to him through a kill order put out by his father.  After everything Baine’s done, it’s nice to see that the show has not forgotten how much of a dick he has been.  The gun loving zombie killing conspiracy theorists are back, and now they have proof.  In his ill-fated attempt to be a bad ass, Major’s new friend was caught in full on zombie rage mode, by a dashboard camera.  With actual proof of Zombies being out there, the stakes just became a whole lot higher, and the missing cure samples will probably play a large role in it.

The episode moves forward several storylines, but leaves open the larger mystery of who has stolen the cure vials.

Mathew’s Score – 8.5/10
