In one month, War for the Planet of the Apes will debut in theatres and conclude the story of Caesar’s efforts to protect his family from the humans trying to reclaim the world they once dominated. One of the new characters who will be introduced in Matt Reeves’ followup to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is Nova. She is a young orphan who was discovered by Caesar’s orangutan adviser, Maurice.
Fans of the Planet of the Apes series will note that Nova, played by the young Amiah Miller, is actually a younger version of the character with the same name from 1968’s Planet of the Apes and its sequel Beneath the Planet of the Apes. In both films, the character was played by Linda Harrison.
Check out the film clip below!
The most exciting part of the clip is that Caesar initially seems hostile towards the stray human survivor. Not surprising though as the last film showed that Caesar is done trying to reason with humanity. But the end of the clip has Caesar excepting Nova as one of their own. It will be interesting to see the type of role Caesar takes on in this film.
War for the Planet of the Apes will be released in theaters on July 14, 2017.
