Remember when everyone thought that Fox would give the rights of the Fantastic Four over to Disney and Marvel because of not one, not two, but three dumpster fire films? Well think again! Fox isn’t ready to give up the film rights for these characters just yet. According to a new report from Bleeding Cool‘s editor-in-chief Rich Johnson, sources have told him that Fox has got the ball rolling on another Fantastic Four film.

Here’s the real kicker though. The rumored reboot would not focus on the original Fantastic Four team. So, if you were looking for yet another film revolving around Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Thing and The Human Torch, you’re out of luck here. The new film would be centered on the Richards children, Franklin and Valeria. Additionally, The Human Torch and The Thing would appear along with Reed and Sue Richards.

Bleeding Cool also reports that Seth Grahame-Smith, who is known for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has written the current draft of the reboot. Grahame-Smith was also the first director signed on for the upcoming DCEU film The Flash, but left over creative differences.

This news will probably come as a shock to fans as Fox has never been able to craft even a decent film for Marvel’s first family. Despite this, the studio has made it clear that they would like to give it another shot following Josh Trank’s 2015 reboot Fantastic Four. Executive Producer Simon Kinberg had this to say on making another FF film:

“Yes, we would love to make another Fantastic Four movie. We feel like there’s a great Fantastic Four movie to be made and I think it would hue closer to the tone of the original, the source material, the comics, but we want to make that movie.”

Neither Fox or Marvel have released a statement to confirm or deny these reports. Recently, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has stated that they have no plans in place for the Fantastic Four to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since the deal between Sony and Marvel was finalized bringing the Spider-Man-verse over to the MCU, fans have been clamoring for a Fantastic Four reboot under the Disney/Marvel banner. For now, lets all just hope that, if this rumor turns out to be true, the film actually turns out to be half-decent.
