Sony’s ‘Venom’ Film Will Reportedly Feature Carnage

What a week it has been for Sony. First, Amy Pascal seemingly confirms that the upcoming Venom film will indeed be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now a potential main antagonist for the film has been revealed.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Sony’s Venom film will feature the cinematic debut of the classic Spider-Man character, Carnage.
Similar to Venom, Carnage is the symbiote persona bonded to serial killer Cletus Kasady. Carnage debuted in Marvel Comics in The Amazing Spider-Man #360.
Considered both a Venom and Spider-Man villain, Carnage and Venom share quite the history. Eddie Brock and Kasady shared a prison cell for quite some time which evidently led to the Venom symbiote bonding with Kasady. Unlike Venom, who eventually became more of an anti-hero, Carnage is a full-blooded villain, remaining a chaotic killer throughout his history.
Venom is set to be an R-rated film so the inclusion of Carnage is not surprising. As revealed in May of this year, Tom Hardy is set to star as Eddie Brock/Venom in the feature and Ruben Fleischer, director of Zombieland will helm the project.
Additionally, the report says that Tom Holland, while only contractually obligated to appear in two Spider-Man sequels, will be brought on to appear in the Sony spin-off films as the famed masked hero.
Venom is set to be released on October 5, 2018
