Wonder Woman continues to reach new heights as the female-led superhero film has officially crossed $700 million at the global box office. Domestically, the film has raked in $346 million while internationally, the film has earned $361 million for a total box office haul of $707 million.
Wonder Woman has already passed the first entry into the DCEU, Man of Steel which had a box office total of $668 million. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad remain in front of the Amazon superhero with worldwide grosses of $873 million and $745 million respectively.
With Wonder Woman being both a critical and commercial success, it is no surprise that Warner Bros. wants to make a sequel as they’ve commissioned director Patty Jenkins and DC Comics president Geoff Johns to write a treatment for the proposed sequel. The third entry into the DCEU also holds the distinction of being the highest grossing live-action film by a female director and has the biggest opening for a female-led superhero film with a total of $103 million.
Wonder Woman is currently ranked fifth on the highest grossing films list of 2017 and is closing on the current holder of fourth place, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales which has a box office total of $708 million.
