While Netflix gets the ball rolling on The Defenders and The Punisher, Marvel is about to welcome a brand new set of heroes on Freeform. The upcoming show, New Warriors, will make its debut on cable soon and the show has just released its full cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the coveted role of Squirrel Girl has gone to Milana Vayntrub, best known for her role on This is Us. She will be joined by Derek Theler, who will be playing the male lead, Mister Immortal.

The rest of the cast is rounded by Callum Worthy as Speedball, Matthew Moy as Microbe, Jeremy Tardy as Night Thrasher, and Kate Corner as Debrii.

Showrunner Kevin Biegal talked to THR about working with the young cast:

“I am thrilled beyond belief to be working with this incredible group of actors. They are funny, sincere, eager, charming and perfectly embody these characters. It’ll be a blast and an honor to create this show with each of them. “

Jeph Leob, president of Marvel TV also released a statement regarding the upcoming show:

“We’re so lucky to have assembled such a diverse and incredibly talented cast. We can’t wait for the fans to see what’s in store when we unleash these iconic characters into the world!”

Elizabeth Boykewich, who is the senior VP of talent and casting at Freeform had this to say on Marvel’s newest heroes:

“At Freeform, we are committed to finding distinct and entertaining characters that our audience can enjoy and relate to. We are excited to be working with Marvel Television to bring these fiercely average super heroes to life and watch them take on the world.”

Synopsis: New Warriors revolves around about six young people with powers living and working together. With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world … even if the world isn’t ready. With Freeform focused on a group dubbed “becomers” — those experiencing a series of firsts in life including first loves and first jobs — New Warriors explores the journey into adulthood, except in this world, they’re not quite super and not yet heroes and the guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.

New Warriors will premiere on Freeform sometime in 2018. This will be Freeform’s second Marvel series following Cloak and Dagger
