The DCEU will head back to the past once more as the first details about the Wonder Woman sequel have emerged. According to The Wrap, they have confirmed that Wonder Woman 2 will be a period piece, set during the cold war and will have Diana fighting against the Soviet Union in the 1980’s.
Screenrant was the first to report the rumored setting for the film.
Geoff Johns, president of DC Entertainment, is currently developing the script for the sequel with director Patty Jenkins, who is negotiating a return to the director’s chair.
In addition to this, it is being reported that Chris Pine will indeed return to the DCEU despite his character sacrificing himself in the third act of Wonder Woman. While this may seem impossible, never forget that this a comic book film and nine times out of ten, no one stays dead forever. How Trevor returns for the dead has not been reported at this time.
This past weekend, Wonder Woman passed Suicide Squad ‘s box office total of $745.6 million with a total gross of $745.8 million. On the domestic side, the film has a gross of $368.7 million, which passes Batman V Superman’s domestic total of $330 million.
Wonder Woman 2 currently has no release date and Warner Bros. declined to comment on this report but keep it locked on Talkies Network for all the latest DCEU news!
