San Diego Comic-Con might just be the most wonderful time of the year. Yesterday, fans were treated to the Legion panel. Legion is FX’s critically acclaimed X-Men series which comes from the mind of Fargo creator Noah Hawley and stars Dan Stevens as the titular mutant. Not only did fans get a boatload of information regarding the upcoming season, Hawley also dropped a bombshell when he said he was working on a Doctor Doom movie for FOX. Now, according to one report, we may know the first actor who’s involved with the film.
In a Comic-Con report by Bleeding Cool, Dan Stevens is apparently involved in the Doctor Doom movie. His role has not been revealed yet not confirmed by anyone a part of the production.
Bleeding Cool does not go into detail on who Stevens could potentially be playing but it’s no surprise that Stevens would sign on for the film. Hawley and Stevens’ work on Legion has kick started the T.V side of the X-Men Cinematic Universe thanks to its incredible dialogue, complex story and its unhinged protagonist.
I think it would be safe to assume that Stevens could be in the running for Doctor Doom himself. Stevens can perfectly pull off the viciousness of the character but also the intellectual side. It’s really anyone’s guess at this point since all that’s been announced is the film itself.
This also shuts down rumors that the Fantastic Four and its rogues will head back to Disney/Marvel. Rumors have been circulating that somehow, just the villains for the FF (Doctor Doom, Galactus), had their rights reverted back to Marvel but this closes the door on that. Recently, another rumor arose that said FOX was that a new Fantastic Four film was in development and it would focus on the children of Reed and Sue Richards.
Legion is set to air on T.V in 2018.
