New ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Concept Reveals Two Other Avengers Were Originally Going to Appear

Written By: Nick Poulimenakos

Robert Downey’s Jr’s Tony Stark/Iron Man was the only Avenger that played a major role in Spider-Man: Homecoming but that wasn’t always the plan.

New Homecoming concept art has revealed that James Rhodes/War Machine and The Vision were slated to appear in Homecoming’s big Staten Island Ferry scene. The scene in the film has Iron Man and several Iron bots coming to save Spider-Man but the concept art shows the three Avengers handling the issue themselves.

What makes Spider-Man: Homecoming is its minimal use of Iron Man, having him appear in only a few scenes but still keeping the overarching story of the Tony’s father/son dynamic with Peter Parker. Having the other Avengers would have made for a fun moment but it lessens the standalone Spider-Man feel to the film.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is in theatres everywhere now.
