Well… it had to happen sooner or later right? In an exclusive report by Deadline, a J.R.R Tolkien biopic is happening and its already got a director. Dome Karukoski will helm the project being produced by Fox Searchlight Pictures.  The Finnish director has not directed a Hollywood feature yet but is huge in his homeland, having directed The Home of Dark Butterflies and Heart of a Lion.

The script has been written by Stephen Beresford and David Gleeson and will follow the formative years of the author as he searches for love, friendship and artistic inspiration in a school filled with outsiders. This leads him to World War 1, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. It is these experiences that inspire Tolkien to write his now famous Middle-Earth novels.

The biopic currently has no release date or cast but stay tuned to Talkies Network for all the latest updates on this movie!
