Eon Productions and MGM look to be closing in on the director for the upcoming 25th James Bond film.
According to a report by Variety, sources are telling them that Yann Demange is the frontrunner to direct Bond 25. The article also states that there are still other names being considered but Demange is at the top of the list.
Bond 25 is currently aiming for a November 8, 2019 release date and Daniel Craig is reportedly signed on for the film.
The Bond franchise is currently looking for a new distributor as well due to their deal with Sony coming to an end. Speculation points to Warner Bros. landing the spy series.
Demange is a relatively new director having only helmed one film, ’71, which starred Jack O’Connell and received critical acclaim. His second feature, White Boy Rick, which stars Jennifer Jason Leigh and Matthew McConaughey is due out in theatres January 2018.
Sources also stated that most conversations about the newest Bond film revolved around whether Craig would return to the role that skyrocketed his career and which film company would hold the distribution rights. The search for a new director was an issue Eon apparently wanted to handle sooner rather than later.
