It’s no secret that Marvel went through dozens upon dozens of spider suit designs before settling on the one seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming. When the film was released, the suit felt like a classic throwback to the Stan Lee/Steve Dtiko days but newly released concept art shows that Peter Parker could have looked immensely different in the rebooted feature.

Thanks to concept artist Ryan Meinerding, he revealed one of the many unused designs for the latest MCU film. The art has Peter Parker in the classic Scarlet Spider outfit. Check out the picture below!

The Scarlet Spider outfit was first used by Benjamin Reilly, a clone of Spider-Man created by the more obscure villain, Jackal. Reilly desperately wanted to be just like his hero Spider-Man so he decided to take up the mantle of the Scarlet Spider. Over the years, Joe Wade and even Peter himself donned have donned the Scarlet suit so the concept art acts as a nice nod to Marvel’s storied past.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is in theatres everywhere now.
