The biopic revolving around Lucille Ball has finally found a major studio. In an exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon has secured the rights to make the authorized Lucille Ball biopic that has Ball and Desi Arnaz’s children attached to produce.
The film has Cate Blanchett in talks to star as the titular comedian and will use a script written by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Steve Jobs).
The film will focus on the life of the famous actress who starred in various TV sitcoms such as The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here’s Lucy and Life with Lucy and, most notably, I Love Lucy. Ball was nominated for 13 Emmy awards, winning four and won the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award in 1979.
As noted, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. will produce the project with Escape Artists. Jenna Block will be at the head of the project for Escape Artists.
Blanchett has created quite the filmography in recent years, having starred in Carol, Cinderella, and the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok where she plays the main villain, Hela.
The Lucille Ball biopic currently has no release date but stay tuned to Talkies Network for the latest news surrounding this upcoming film!
