Gal Gadot on Joss Whedon Taking Over as Director of ‘Justice League’

Written By: Nick Poulimenakos

Warner Bros. and DC’s Justice League film faced a major hurdle when Zack Snyder stepped down as director to deal with a family tragedy. Enter Joss Whedon, who Snyder personally chose to oversee the rest of Justice League’s production, including re-shoots. The film has been shrouded in mystery and doubt as rumors continue to circle the internet on how problematic post-production has been. Now, one Justice League star is trying to ease the tension fans may have.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Gal Gadot discussed Joss Whedon becoming the new director of Justice League, where she assured fans that Joss was not brought in to save the project.

“Look. Joss, to my understanding, was Zack’s choice to finish the movie. And the tone can’t be completely different because the movie was already shot. Joss is just fine-tuning.”

Rumors for the film have said that Joss was changing the tone, the ending, and not sticking to Snyder’s original vision for the film. Well, if Gadot is to be believed, Whedon’s work on the film has not been extremely drastic.

However, it’s apparent that no one truly knows what state Justice League is in except for Whedon himself and the rest of the crew. The latest trailer that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con impressed many viewers as it demonstrated more action and a lighter tone which could be attributed to Whedon but visually speaking, it looks like every shot in that trailer was from Snyder himself. It’s not uncommon for a film to go through re-shoots so it can be assumed that Justice League is truly just doing some fine tuning.

It all really comes down to the final product though. If Justice League is the DC film fans have been waiting for, than the process to get to this point won’t really matter. Gadot joins Cyborg actor Ray Fisher and Ben Affleck himself in trying to calm the waters and debunk rumors but more rumors will most likely appear online saying that Justice League is a disaster. Once November 17 rolls around, fans will truly know what kind of film Justice League is.

Justice League hits theatres on November 17, 2017.
