The Deadpool side of the X-Men Cinematic Universe just took a big step in the right direction. According to an exclusive report by Deadline, Fox has hired Drew Goddard to write and direct a film about the mutant team, X-Force.
The film will reportedly revolve around Deadpool and Cable bringing “down and dirty mutant warriors” together to form a black ops team that will be more brutal than their counterparts, the X-Men.
The film will be produced by Ryan Reynolds, Lauren Shuler Donner, and Simon Kinberg. Goddard has already begun writing the script and will commence pre-production once he has completed his upcoming project, Bad Times at the El Royale.
Goddard has made quite a mark in Hollywood. Along with being rumored to direct X-Force for quite some time, Goddard has worked with Disney and Marvel Studios, creating the first Marvel/Netflix show, Daredevil, which premiered to critical acclaim. On top of that, he wrote the script for Ridley Scott’s The Martian. He was initially attached to direct by left the film for Sony’s proposed Sinister Six spin-off film about famous Spider-Man villains which was ultimately cancelled when Spidey made his way over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
X-Force has no planned release date but keep it locked on Talkies Network for all the latest info regarding this X-Men film!
