Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is 10 years in the making. It will be the culmination of years of world building and will be a turning point for a number of characters, including the villain turned anti-hero, Nebula.
Thanos’ daughter has had quite an awful life and most of it has to with her abusive upbringing at the hand of her adoptive father. Fans have been patiently waiting for Nebula to confront the mad titan and Karen Gillan is promising that Nebula going face-to-face with her father is coming very soon.
In an interview with Den of Geek, Gillan spoke about the upcoming interaction between Nebula and her father:
“I’ve been sworn to secrecy. But I definitely think that all of what we’ve been building towards, with all the backstories between Nebula and Thanos, is definitely going to come to a head in the Avengers film, and she’s definitely going to confront all of those traumatic memories. I definitely think she is going to have her moment.”
Along with a number of characters, Nebula is committed to killing her father and bringing an end to his madness. This will likely lead to her teaming up with The Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy to fight the MCU’s biggest villain.
Gillan went on to explain how crazy that back-to-back filming schedule for Avengers: infinity War and Avengers 4 has been:
“So this is the longest shoot in the world. It’s been going since January, and it goes right up until December. And then it goes into reshoots—like immediate, more additional photography—next year. So it’s like an ongoing thing, which is really cool, because it feels like a whole family now.”
Re-shoots aren’t unheard of and seeing that they are needed for a film of this scale isn’t surprising. Only time will tell how Nebula reacts to seeing her father again but, until then, we’ll just have to sit and wait for Avengers: Infinity War to premiere in theatres.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theatres on May 4, 2018.
