When Thor: Ragnarok makes its thunderous debut in theatres next week, fans will be treated to several familiar MCU faces but unfortunately, there will be one noteworthy absence.
Jaimie Alexander, who plays Lady Sif in the Thor series, will not be apart of Asgard’s destruction but it wasn’t for lack of trying. In an interivew with Yahoo!, Alexander confirmed that she was asked to reprise her role as one of Asgard’s finest warriors but the timing of the shoot just didn’t work out:
“I was asked, but the timing of when they were going to shoot and when Blindspot was gonna shoot — it was pretty much the same time. So there was a conflict there.”
Alexander went on to say that if she had been given more notice for the shoot, then something could have possibly worked out:
“I was hoping for more of a notice from [the studio] so I could make it work, but it was a short notice thing. They called and said, ‘Hey, by the way, would you come do this?’ I said there is no way I can make that work that fast.”
“It couldn’t happen. They were on a different continent!”
For fans who don’t know, Alexander’s Blindspot series films in the USA while Thor: Ragnarok was shot in Australia.
Despite Lady Sif not appearing, Alexander is still excited to see what Taika Waititi brings to the Thor franchise:
“I’m really looking forward to seeing it. It will be nice to see all those great people in that movie. I’m super excited for it. I also heard that it’s incredibly funny which makes me really happy.”
But, would Alexander be open to reprising her role in a future Marvel film? According to her, of course she is!
“Oh, sure. I love Marvel. I’d be happy to do other projects with them at any time. They’re a great company — I love all the guys and girls over there — they always are able to get a really fun cast for almost every project they have, which is often. And, of course, who doesn’t want to be a superhero?”
Thor: Ragnarok premieres in theatres on November 3, 2017.
