In what is arguably the surprise hit of 2017, IT has taken the world by storm. The coming-of-age horror film is now the highest grossing film of the genre, bringing in a global total of $677.6 million. With the film being a critical and commercial success, talks of a sequel have already begun.
The sequel will have the children of the first film becoming adults and working together again to put an end to Pennywise’s reign of terror and now, one actress is throwing her hat in to the potential casting pool.
Jessica Chastain, who is a fan-favourite theoretical casting choice recently spoke with ScreenRant. She discussed her relationship with Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the director and producer of IT respectively, and said that she’s ready to be a part of anything the siblings are producing:
“Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen.”
After the sequel to IT was confirmed, fans began choosing which actors and actresses should play the children in the film. For the character of Beverly Marsh, fans quickly pointed to Chastain, who bears as striking to resemblance to current Beverly actress, Sophia Lillis. Not only that, but Lillis herself also said that Chastain would be a great choice for an adult Beverly.
While this isn’t a confirmation that Chastain is in talks with Muschietti or the studio to sign on for the role, it is exciting to see that Chastain is game to take part in the anticipated sequel.
Pre-production has yet to being for IT: Chapter Two but once the ball gets rolling there, expect to see casting announcements not long after.
