A Marvel film that fans are always asking for but never seem to get, Black Widow remains as one of the only two original Avengers without a solo film. While Hawkeye doesn’t have much backstory, Black Widow’s origin is definitely one that could take centre stage in its own film and the creator of the Marvel Universe agrees.
Stan Lee recently appeared at Supanova Comic Con in Brisbane, Australia where he as asked if he would like to see a Black Widow movie to happen:
“One day there will be a Black Widow movie.”
But, that’s not all. In a tweet GSC Cinemas, who was also at the event, Lee not only said that he wants the film to happen, it already is!
Now, take this with a grain of salt for now. Despite Lee being the creator of the Marvel Universe, and cameoing in every MCU film since its inception, we don’t know how involved he is in Kevin Feige’s master plan for the franchise.
A Black Widow film has been rumored for quite some time now, with the most recent speculation pointing to a solo outing for the character in phase 4 of the MCU. Scarlett Johansson debuted as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 in a show-stealing performance. Since then, the character has been seen in The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Captain America: Winter Soldier.
