Netflix has renewed the hit drama for a 13-episode third season, slated to premiere next year, Talkies Network has confirmed. Brian Yorkey is set to return as showrunner, with production on the new season will resume later this year.
Brian Yorkey, Joy Gorman, Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin, Selena Gomez and Steve Golin are all returning as executive producers of the series and the entire main cast is expected to return with the exception of Kathrine Langford aka. Hannah Baker. The actress had this to say on a potential third season:
“For me, we told Hannah’s story so fully in Season 1,” Langford tells EW. “In a way, doing that scene in episode 13 [of Season 2], I’ve so often referred to it as it was the hardest scene because it’s the scene where I had to let her go. I think coming back this season was challenging because it was playing her but not really her.”
The new season is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2019
