While many fans have been in the dark about when their beloved fantasy epic will be returning to the small screen, HBO has finally confirmed (somewhat) on when Game of Thrones will be back.
The network has said “2019” for a while. Now HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys says: “First half” of 2019.With most seasons airing in April, this comes as no surprise but it should get fans amped up after the year long wait following the conclusion of season 7.
Plus, more GoT timeline news. Remember all those recent reports that the Game of Thrones prequel by showrunner Jane Goldman will start shooting in October?
Bloys confirmed that was in fact, a lie and that the series is hoping to go into production also in early 2019. He noted the project is still searching for a director, let alone cast.
Many outlets picked up a report by the Belfast Telegraph saying the show would start shooting in just a few months.
“I don’t know where that report came from, we’re hoping to go into production in early ’19,” Bloys said.
Bloys made the comments at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills on Wednesday.
