Despite a widespread campagin from fans, critics and even people inside the company, DIsney is sticking to its decision to not bring back James Gunn as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 following his firing from the project. The decision came (via Variety) following a meeting between Gunn and studio chairman Alan Horn.
Gunn and his talent agency UTA reportedly pushed hard for Guardians of the Galaxy director to be given a second chance, and Horn opted to take a “courtesy” meeting on Tuesday to clear the air and see if there was a chance of Gunn returning to the franchise. Though the meeting was described as professional, sources indicated that Horn stood by his decision to not reinstate Gunn as director.
