Netflix’s TV-series adaptation of The Witcher has found its main star in Henry Cavill.
The series, which is an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novels, is described as an “epic tale of fate and family,” and follows Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a hunter who struggles to find his place in a world full of beasts both human and animal. The Witcher series will span eight episodes with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Daredevil, Power) serving as the showrunner and executive-producer along with Alik Sakharov (Black Sails).
Cavill’s just coming off of successful leading roles in films like Mission: Impossible-Fallout as well as his work as Superman in the DCEU. The last time that Cavill was on television was for the Showtime drama The Tudors, which ended in 2010. The Witcher series gained most of its popularity after it was adapted into a video game trilogy by CD Projekt Red.
