After the success of their series, The Dragon Prince, written by Aaron Ehasz, Netflix has just dropped the mother of all bombshells. Avatar: The Last Airbender is coming back as a live-action, re-imagined new series. Better yet, the series is coming from creators of the original Nickelodeon show!

Netflix confirmed that The Last Airbender’s co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are both signed on to oversee the show, something they’ve been planning on for ages.
Creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino had this to say:
“We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast.”
It has not been confirmed whether the show will tread along familiar waters or if it will craft its own path. Whatever it is, the fact that the creators of the original show are a part of this project gives fans a little more faith than M Night’s absolutely horrendous adaptation of the legendary show.
