I don’t want people to read too much into this because I think this is simply a piece of cool and intriguing news. What could be the final film in the ongoing X-Men movie franchise is set to hit theaters next summer with Dark Phoenix, and fans are finally starting to learn more about it.
Attendees of CCXP in Brazil who were present for the film’s showcase panel tweeted that writer and director Simon Kinberg confirmed Feige reviewed the script and the tone of what could be the last franchise film before the X-Men join the MCU.
Confirmation that @jes_chastain is indeed a character not from Earth. Also that no connection or hint to the MCU, although Feige reviewed the script and tone.#XMen #DarkPhoenix pic.twitter.com/gWHSQg75bR

It’s an interesting thing to note that a rival studio head actually got to read the script for one of Fox’s biggest superhero films ever. Many fans have been curious about the future of the X-Men especially after it was announced that Disney will acquire 20th Century Fox and other entertainment properties. The purchase will not be finalized until early 2019, and it has already been reported that Disney is apparently not even allowed to work with or think about the X-Men characters until the deal is complete.
Whatever the case may be, Simon Kinberg may have just confirmed that Feige is indeed already beginning to take a deeper look into how to incorporate the X-Men into the cinematic universe. However, this could be nothing. It probably is. I just thought it would be cool to share. Let the speculation begin!
X-Men: Dark Phoenix premieres in theaters on June 7, 2019.
