The DCEU is moving forward with a number of exciting projects, including several starring Harley Quinn, though a number of proposed films have reportedly been scrapped.
A new report from Mark Hughes at Forbes laid out several exciting tidbits concerning the future of the DCEU, with a focus on what’s happening and what’s not. Reportedly, Warner Bros. has scrapped the Mad Love-type Joker and Harley Quinn film as well as the solo Joker project for Jared Leto’s version of the character from Suicide Squad.
Robbie is NOT expected to return for James Gunn’s Suicide Squad sequel either, having now formed her own sect of the DC universe. Recent rumors have pointed to Robbie (who is starring in 2020’s Birds of Prey) playing an important role in a proposed Gotham City Sirens film (which was set to be directed by David Ayer). This would build to a final Birds of Prey V. Gotham City Sirens crossover film. Hughes states that this is not the case but we will wait to get fill confirmation from WB.
There were also projects in the works involving Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, Nightwing, Deadshot, Justice League Dark, Cyborg, Lobo, and a few others, but most of those seem to be either on hold, cancelled, or in some stage of development Hell for the moment.
As of now, these are apparently the films DC is currently working on: Shazam! Joker, Wonder Woman 1984, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), Supergirl, The Suicide Squad, The Batman, Batgirl, The Trench, Aquaman 2, The New Gods, Green Lantern Corps.
Finally, adding more fuel to the fire of recent Superman rumors, the report states that Henry Cavill, while not out of the role, is not currently in talks for future man of steel apparences. Insiders say that Superman will appear in a cameo in Shazam! but there are conflicting reports as to whether Cavill will don the cape or not.
