As the release of Avengers: Endgame looms over the film industry, The Russo Brothers have found their next film and its lead actor.
Variety is reporting that Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is in talks to star in the Russo brothers’ Cherry, which is set to be the directing duo’s first post-Avengers feature.
Joe and Anthony Russo will direct from a script by Jessica Goldberg, who adapted the novel Exit West for the brothers’ studio AGBO and was creator and EP of Hulu series The Path, starring Hugh Dancy and Aaron Paul.
AGBO acquired the rights to Nico Walker’s novel, Cherry, in August, with plans to shoot over the summer.
The novel dramatizes the true life story of the author, a former Army medic who returned from Iraq with extreme undiagnosed PTSD, fell into opioid addiction and began robbing banks. Walker was apprehended and convicted in 2011 and is scheduled to be released in 2020.
Holland will next be seen in Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, as well as in the Lionsgate feature Chaos Walking, co-starring Daisy Ridley.
