The MCU’s master archer is finally heading to the small screen!
A Hawkeye solo series starring Jeremy Renner is officially in the works at Disney+ according to Variety. The limited series will see Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, passing the torch to Kate Bishop. Bishop is a Marvel Comics character who took up the Hawkeye mantle after Barton. She is also a member of the group known as the Young Avengers, a group who is rumored to be getting a future MCU film.
A Hawkeye solo series is just the latest edition in a long line of Marvel projects in development at Disney’s streaming service. Also in the works are series’ for Falcon and Winter Soldier, as well as Loki, and Scarlet Witch and The Vision. In addition, Lady Sif, Rocket and Groot, Nebula And Gamora, and Nick Fury are rumored to be getting shows as well.
The eight-episode story will be produced by Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige. The shows are also expected to have large budgets compared to other television projects.
Renner has been a core member of the MCU since he first appeared as Hawkeye in an uncredited cameo in Thor. He has since reprised the role in The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War. After sitting out Avengers: Infinity War, Renner will next appear in Avengers: Endgame, which hits theaters on April 26.
