‘Bumblebee’ Director Travis Knight to Helm Mark Wahlberg’s ‘Six Billion Dollar Man’ Film

Travis Knight is set to join Warner Bros.’ film adaptation of the classic TV show Six Billion Dollar Man as director. The film has Mark Wahlberg attached to star, Sue Kroll, Bill Gerber and Steve Levinson set to produce, and Bill DuBuque writing the script.

Knight just recently released the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, which ended up grossing over $466 million at the worldwide box office.

Warner Bros. bought the rights to the adaptation in 2017 after the original owners, The Weinstein Company, broke apart. After Damian Szifron, the original director, left the project, the studio began looking for a new director.

The Six Billion Dollar Man is based on the sci-fi TV series of the same name which follows Colonel Steve Austin, a former astronaut who becomes employed as a secret agent due to superhuman abilities he gains from bionic implants. Based on Martin Caidin’s novel Cyborg, the series ran on ABC between 1973 and 1978 for five seasons.
