DC Universe Cancels ‘Swamp Thing’ After Only 1 Season

The creature who lurks from the swamp will not be seeing a season 2 on the DC Universe streaming platform.

WB and DC Universe have confirmed that their latest DC series, Swamp Thing, has officially been cancelled. The series just recently premiered its first episode on the platform following glowing reviews from critics.

There are a couple of reasons for this unfortunate decision. Sources claim that DC Universe is being reevaluated following the completion of AT&T acquisition of Time Warner as WarnerMedia has put an emphasis on the launch of a new streaming platform. There have been questions how DC Universe fits into those plans.

Additionally, executives were not apparently keen on the direction of the show, while the budget or performance on DC Universe was said to be solid. Cast and crew were notified late last night. The rest of the first season will continue to air on DC Universe.

The news comes after production on the 13-episode series was halted after just 10 episodes were filmed. The future of the series remains bleak but we’ve heard that other networks have taken an interest in picking it up. One report from GWW claims that HBO and CW are both interested in saving the series.
