Avengers! Return to theatres!
That’s right ladies and gentleman, the biggest superhero movie of all time is returning to theatres, as Avengers: Endgame will be re-released with new footage!
Multiple outlets have confirmed the news, as it is coming straight from Kevin Feige himself. Endgame was a legitimate challenger to Avatar’s all-time worldwide record of $2.788 billion, but ultimately fell short of passing it. Now, it seems like the inevitable is upon us, as Endgame is now expected to pass James Cameron’s legendary film for #1 at the all-time box office ranking.
On re-releasing Endgame, Feige had this to say:
“Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.” – Screenrant
So, it won’t be an extended cut, but it will finally have a post-credit scene, something the theatrical cut of the film lacked. The Russo Brothers confirmed that they decided against giving the film an end credits stinger to add weight to how the film truly a conclusion to Marvel’s “Infinity Saga.”
“We are doing that,” Feige said of an Endgame re-release with new footage. “I don’t know if it’s been announced. And I don’t know how much… Yeah, we’re doing it next weekend.” – Comicbook
