Disney and Pixar announced today that a second original film from the legendary animation studio will be released in 2020.
Soul, directed by two-time Academy Award winner Pete Docter (Up, Inside Out) and produced by Academy Award nominee Dana Murray (Lou), will be released in theatres on June 19, 2020. This follows the March premiere of Pixar’s Onward, starring Tom Holland and Chris Pratt, and directed by Dan Scalon.
Pixar also released an official synopsis for the film:
Ever wonder where your passion, your dreams and your interests come from? What is it that makes you… YOU? In 2020, Pixar Animation Studios takes you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life’s most important questions.
Following the release of Toy Story 4, Pixar reaffirmed the notion that it will return to developing and producing original films (after years of mostly producing sequels). No cast has been announced for Soul.
