Just when you thought Marvel was out of surprises, they go and announce that J.J Abrams will be at the helm of a new Spider-Man comic!
That’s right folks, J.J. Abrams, director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, is writing a new Spider-Man mini-series for Marvel alongside his son Henry. The comic will feature art from Miles Morales co-creator Sara Pichelli.
The last few days has seen Marvel posting a webbed countdown to their twitter page. The countdown began at four, leading fans to initially believe that the company would be released either a Fantastic Four/Spider-Man team-up, or a comic adaptation of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 script.
The five-part limited series will debut in September and will introduce a brand new villain named Cadaverous. You can watch the full announcement in the video above, and you can check out the new cover for issue #1 from Olivier Coipel below.
I got to talk to @jjabrams and Henry Abrams about their new Spider-Man series for @Marvel coming in September. I also had a geek out moment and told Mr. Abrams how much I love "Felicity." (Ben forever!) That is not included in this Q&A: https://t.co/65GPrZSriR pic.twitter.com/W6OtXN5guE
