Coming off of the end of his nine-year reign as War Machine for Marvel, Don Cheadle is joining LeBron James in Warner Bros.’ sequel to Space Jam, Space Jam 2.
Terence Nance is directing the follow-up to the 1996 original film which earned over $230M at the global box office. The film is expected to be rebooting Warner Bros.’ classic Looney Tunes group but little to nothing has been revealed for the film including Cheadle’s role.
Most recently, Cheadle starred in Showtime’s comedy series Black Monday which is set around the time of the 1987 stock market crash. Showtime recently renewed the series and Season 2 will be premiering in 2020. Cheadle is also producing the film adaptation of the book Amari and the Night Brothers for Universal Pictures and is set to appear alongside Kevin Hart and Lil Rel Howery in Black Stallions which is expected to be distributed by Netflix.
Space Jam 2 is set to be released on July 16, 2021.
