Batman Beyond, the 1999 animated series that thrusts viewers into a futuristic view of Batman and the city of Gotham, is getting a remastered release to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary. The news was released as part of the Batman Beyond 20th Anniversary reunion panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Batman Beyond: The Complete Animated Series Limited Edition will be releasing digitally on October 15 and Blu-Ray on October 29. The release will Comprise of 1,500 minutes of Batman Beyond across four discs and will also include 2 discs of bonus content including a remastered version of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and 15 featurettes about the series. Four episodes will be receiving audio commentary from executive producer Bruce Timm and members of the production team and the physical release will also include a Batman Beyond Funko Pop as well as four lenticular art cards.
Batman Beyond premiered in 1999 as a spin-off of the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series. But instead of taking place in the usual setting that most DC animated series takes place in, Batman Beyond was set decades after the events of the previous series. Not only did the setting change, but the Caped Crusader himself did as well. Bruce Wayne was shifted into a mentor role for teenage Batman Terry McGinnis, who wore a suit that increased his strength and gave him the ability to fly.
The digital edition of Batman Beyond: The Complete Animated Series Limited Edition will cost $49.99 USA, $59.99 SRP Canada, while the Blu-Ray edition will cost $99.99 USA, $119.99 SRP Canada.
Ahead of the set’s retail release, Season 1 will also be made available on the DC Universe app on August 23, 2019.
