The film is set in 14th century France and follows a man who goes to war and returns to discover that his wife has been raped by a friend of his. After finding that no one will believe his wife, the soldier goes directly to the king of France and requests a duel to the death to decide the man’s fate. This would become the last legally sanctioned duel in French history.
Damon and Affleck co-wrote the script with Nicole Holofcener. Scott, Damon, and Affleck are all producing alongside Kevin Walsh and Drew Vinton. Madison Ainsley will serve as executive producer. If the film gets picked up, it’ll be the first time that Damon and Affleck have starred in a film together since Good Will Hunting, which premiered in 1997. It’ll also the first time that Damon and Scott have worked together since The Martian.
