ABC in Active Talks with Marvel for new Female-led Superhero Series

While Agents of SHIELD is set to come to a close next year, ABC is getting ready to bring in a new Marvel series to the network.

Deadline is reporting that the Disney-owned television studio is in active talks with Marvel to produce a new female-led superhero series.

“I have spoken to Marvel and we are in active talks about one project in particular,” said ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke. “While she wouldn’t give away any details, she said the character would be “something brand new, mostly” and that the series would fit in with its strategy of female-focused superheroes.

ABC is looking to have at least one Marvel property on air at any given time. The proposed series is separate from the show ABC developed last year with Wonder Women writer Allan Heinberg. Last year, Heinberg partnered with ABC to develop an untitled hourlong drama about female characters with powers. As of now, there have been no updates on that series.

The original report does not indicate whether the series will be produced by Marvel Television (like Agents of SHIELD or the Marvel/Netflix series’) or Marvel Studios (which will produce all Marvel/Disney+ series’).

Which female superhero do you hope to see on the small screen? Let us know in the comments down below!
