Three-time Academy Award winner Robert Richardson, who just finished work on Quentin Tarantino’s latest film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, has signed on to shoot Venom 2.
Last week, Andy Serkis was tapped to lead the sequel to Sony’s 2018 film Venom, and the recent signing of Richardson will now reunite Serkis with the director of photography of his directorial debut, Breathe.
Tom Hardy will be returning to the role of Eddie Brock, a hardworking journalist who finds himself merged with an alien symbiote to create the anti-hero, Venom. Michelle Williams is also expected to return, as is Woody Harrelson, who will be playing Venom’s arch-rival Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage.
Richardson is one of the industry’s most sought out cinematographers, serving as a go-to guy for Quentin Tarantino, Oliver Stone, and Martin Scorsese. In addition to Once Upon a Time, Richardson has worked with Tarantino on the Kill Bill movies as well as Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight. He worked with Stone on Platoon, Wall Street, JFK, and Natural Born Killers. He worked with Scorsese on numerous films such as Casino, The Aviator, Shutter Island, and Hugo.
