The CW Renews 13 Series Including ‘Batwoman’, ‘Riverdale’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Legacies’

For the second straight year, The CW is on track to not cancel any of its original programming line-up.

The television giant has officially handed out 13 season renewals to almost its entire slate. The lone series that did not receive a renewal is the Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene, which did receive an additional order of 13 scripts, ahead of its February premiere.

Returning to The CW are Batwoman and Nancy Drew (season 2), All American (season three), Black Lightning (season four), Charmed (season three), Dynasty (season four), The Flash (season seven), In the Dark (season three), Legacies (season three), Legends of Tomorrow (season six), Riverdale (season five), Roswell, New Mexico (season three) and Supergirl (season five on The CW and six overall, as the first aired on CBS).

“These early orders for next season give our production teams a head start in plotting out story arcs and a jump on hiring staff, and this also provides us with a strong foundation of established, fan-favorite CW shows to build on for next season,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz. “We’ve been thrilled with the creative direction of all three new series, and even though we are in the very early stages of our new full stack streaming strategy, which allows viewers to catch up on our new shows from the beginning, we’re already seeing incredibly positive results from our multi-platform viewership for Nancy Drew and Batwoman.”

When The CW opted against cancelling any of its shows last year, it marked the first time since 1981 for a cable station to do so.

The show of faith from The CW comes ahead of its streaming partnership ending with Netflix. While producers Warner Bros. TV and CBS TV Studios will lose financial revenue that comes from selling shows to Netflix, many of them will move over to HBO Max and CBS All Access.
