‘Little Shop of Horrors’ Remake Adds Chris Evans as Dentist Orin Scrivello

Chris Evans is currently in negotiations to play a key character in Little Shop of Horrors, the film remake of the cult movie-turned-Broadway musical that’s being directed by Greg Berlanti. Warner Bros. is behind the project and has been courting actors since the early fall.

Little Shop of Horrors follows Seymour, a resigned florist who works at the Skid Row Florists where he is secretly in love with Audrey, who also works at the struggling shop. Seymour becomes famous when he discovers a venus flytrap-looking plant but his life becomes increasingly complicated when the plant demands to be fed human blood and eventually people.

Scarlett Johansson and Taron Egerton are rumored to be contemplating leading roles in the horror-comedy. The only actor who has been confirmed as of yet is Billy Porter. Egerton and Johansson are in talks for the roles of Seymour and Audrey. Porter will be voicing the carnivorous plant. Evans will play the role of dentist Orin Scrivello, Audrey’s abusive boyfriend.

The upcoming project is based on the 1960 Roger Corman movie that was adapted into a popular musical in the early 1980s which was then adapted as a 1986 movie that starred Rick Moranis.

Evans hung up his shield last year after wrapping an almost decade-long stint as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, in the MCU. Evans also had a large role in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, the whodunnit hit that earned $305.9 million worldwide. He next stars in Defending Jacob, a limited series drama that he also produced and will debut in April on Apple+.
